Gov. Tony Evers signed Executive Order #304 ordering United States and Wisconsin flags to be flown at half-staff on September 11, 2026, while declaring the day a state Day of Service and Remembrance. The order honors the nearly 3,000 people who died in the attacks on September 11, 2001.

The flags will remain at half-staff from sunrise to sunset on that day. Evers and members of his administration plan to participate in service events throughout the state, and the governor encouraged Wisconsinites to volunteer in their communities.

"Together, we are united today in remembering and honoring those whose lives were forever changed and paying our respects to the first responders, service members, and all those who made the ultimate sacrifice in its aftermath," Evers said. "We will never forget."
