The President of the United Arab Emirates, His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, visited Germany from September 9-11, 2026, in the first state visit by a UAE president to Germany. During the visit, the leaders announced the establishment of a Strategic Dialogue format to deepen cooperation across defense, energy, technology, trade, and other sectors, according to joint declarations released by both governments.
The UAE announced a €40 billion investment package in Germany, reflecting confidence in the country's industrial and technological capabilities. The package includes investments in digital infrastructure, including new data centers with a capacity of approximately 1 gigawatt.
The two nations welcomed the signing of a Joint Declaration of Intent establishing a German-UAE Investment Council and the signing of 29 business-to-business agreements between UAE and German companies valued at more than €9.356 billion.
Bilateral non-oil trade between the countries reached $15.5 billion in 2025, up 14% compared to 2024. Cumulative investment flows over the 2021-2025 period exceeded $10 billion.
The leaders commended the signing of agreements on defense cooperation, police and security cooperation, energy partnerships, and cultural cooperation. Both nations reaffirmed cooperation in energy development, including conventional and emerging resources such as liquefied natural gas, renewables, and hydrogen. The leaders also expressed support for a comprehensive free trade agreement between the UAE and the European Union.
