Ontario residents will vote on November 3 to elect city council representatives, a new mayor, and decide on a proposed sales tax increase.
Two districts will hold city council elections this November. Voters in District 2 and District 3 will elect their representatives, while Districts 1 and 4 will hold elections in 2028. All voters will participate in the mayoral election.
Measure H, also on the ballot, would increase the city's sales tax from 8.75% to 9.25% through a half-cent increase that would remain until voters choose to end it. The city estimates the measure would generate approximately $32.5 million annually for public safety, 911 response, street repairs, parks, homelessness services, and other city programs. Revenue would stay locally controlled and be subject to annual independent audits and public disclosure.
San Bernardino County will mail ballots to registered voters beginning October 5, the same day early voting begins at the County Registrar's office. Early voting will also be available at the Ontario Conference Center from October 29 through November 2. Residents can register or update their address through October 19; those missing the deadline can still register and vote in person on Election Day.
