Las Vegas will break ground on a new Fire & Rescue training center Wednesday, Sept. 9, at 633 N. Mojave Road, according to the city.
The facility's initial phase will involve installing utilities and preparing the site for updated fire training structures. Site improvements will include concrete and asphalt areas designed to replicate typical urban streets, along with activity tracks, fitness and training areas, covered apparatus bays, and parking areas, the city said.
A second phase will introduce training structures to simulate fire scenarios in single-family residences, strip malls, and commercial storage facilities. The city expects substantial completion of the initial phase by July 14, 2027, with the entire project taking approximately 16 months.
The project is estimated to cost $8.4 million and will be funded through city capital improvement funds. Core Construction was selected as the contractor, with the city serving as construction manager.
