Texas has begun distributing more than 7 million free eggs from antitrust settlements with three egg producers, with 1.7 million already delivered to food banks and another 5.322 million scheduled for the coming weeks.

The settlements, secured in June 2026, resolved antitrust claims brought by the Trump Administration's Department of Justice and other state attorneys general stemming from an alleged price-fixing conspiracy between 2022 and 2025. The defendants are Cal-Maine Foods, Centrum/Versova, and Hickman's Egg Ranch.

Under the agreements, the companies are donating 7 million eggs to Texas food banks and paying a combined $3.3 million to participating states.

Seventeen food banks are coordinating the distribution through Feeding Texas, the state's largest hunger-relief organization. The Houston Food Bank will receive the largest allocation at 1.544 million eggs, while other food banks will receive between 140,400 and 842,400 eggs each.
