The Michigan Department of Transportation has reopened M-119 between West Stutsmanville Road and Terpening Road after completing a $300,000 project to repair damage from April flooding.
Contractors installed a new retaining wall along two segments of the road and new guardrail. A railroad crossing that had connected to the roadway was removed and replaced with asphalt, and warning devices were removed to improve traffic flow.
Two other sections of M-119 remain closed to through-traffic. A portion near Division Road is closed due to culvert failure and washout in April and is expected to remain closed until summer 2027. Another section at Devil's Elbow is closed due to washouts in late June, with no firm timeline for repairs announced.
Sections closed to through-traffic remain open to local traffic and access to residences and businesses will be maintained.
