Whycliff Longin, a Haitian national, was arrested Aug. 27 in Lehigh Acres, Florida, following a reported domestic disturbance, according to the U.S. Department of Homeland Security.
Longin is charged with homicide, attempted homicide, sexual battery, and burglary with a battery. The Lee County Sheriff's Office responded to a 911 call at a duplex where they found the body of a woman named Amadette Longin. Another woman said she woke to find Longin on top of her and strangling her before she broke free and called 911.
According to the family, Amadette Longin was Longin's aunt, and the other victim was his cousin. U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement lodged a detainer with the Lee County Jail on the same day Longin was arrested.
According to DHS, Longin illegally entered the United States through Florida in 2024.
