A 61-year-old woman died after being rescued from a house fire in Las Vegas on the morning of September 1, according to the Las Vegas Fire & Rescue Department. Firefighters arrived at the two-story residence in the 1600 block of Muinos Street at 6:23 a.m. after a neighbor reported smoke coming from the structure.
The first fire unit arrived at the scene six minutes after dispatch. Upon arrival, crews found visible smoke and flames and conducted search and rescue operations. They located and rescued the 61-year-old woman from the residence. The fire was extinguished at 6:38 a.m.
The woman was transported to University Medical Center's Trauma Unit. After resuscitative efforts by the trauma center staff, she was pronounced deceased at 7:18 a.m.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation. Material damages are estimated at $50,000. The fire department said it will conduct its "After The Fire" community outreach program in the surrounding neighborhood to share fire safety tips and address community concerns.
