The Michigan Department of Transportation will begin a $2.8 million project Tuesday, Sept. 8, to repair and improve northbound and southbound bridges on US-31 over Walsh Road and US-31 Business Route (Colby Street) in Whitehall, northern Muskegon County.
The project is estimated to run through mid-November. Lane closures and traffic shifts will be in effect throughout the construction on US-31 and Colby Street. Walsh Road will be closed under US-31, the northbound US-31 Exit 128 to Colby Street will be closed, and left turns will not be allowed from southbound US-31 onto Colby Street.
Based on economic modeling, the investment is expected to directly and indirectly support 24 jobs.
The improvements will repair and extend the service lives of the bridges.
