Wisconsin's Department of Health Services announced a partnership between the state's Special Supplemental Nutrition Program for Women, Infants, and Children (WIC) and the Wisconsin Army National Guard's Parenthood, Pregnancy, and Postpartum (P3) program to expand breastfeeding support for military families.
Through the partnership, the agencies are strengthening referrals to WIC so eligible military families can access nutrition education, healthy foods, breastfeeding support, and other services during pregnancy and early childhood.
The partnership has drawn national attention as a model for supporting military families, the department said. "Military families face unique situations. By working together, we can ensure they have the resources, support, and services they need to thrive," said Paula Tran, state health officer and administrator of the Division of Public Health.
