Pittsburgh's Department of Parks and Recreation will open seven recreation centers early this week to provide space for students attending remote classes, the city announced.
The centers will open at 8 a.m. Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday, September 1 through 3. Students can bring their devices and work packets to continue synchronous remote learning during the daytime hours. Snacks will be provided, and each center will maintain its regular afternoon programming.
The participating centers are Ammon, Brookline, Jefferson, Magee, Paulson, Phillips, and West Penn. Families must drop off students in person to complete emergency contact information and provide pickup and drop-off instructions.
Three other recreation centers—Arlington, Ormsby, and Warrington—will remain open during their regular operating hours and programming.
