The U.S. Department of Homeland Security deported multiple individuals with gang affiliations and serious criminal convictions during a week-long enforcement operation in August.
Among those deported were individuals convicted of voluntary manslaughter, attempted murder, sexual assault, kidnapping, robbery, and burglary across multiple states.
Jonathan Moreno Hernandez, affiliated with the South Sider gang, was deported August 23 after convictions for voluntary manslaughter, attempted murder, and assault by prisoner in California. He had been deported three times previously—in 2004, 2007, and 2023—before illegally re-entering the country. Harvey Elias Liberato, affiliated with the Asian Boys gang, was deported August 18 after convictions for voluntary manslaughter, aggravated assault with a gun, and drug possession in California.
Several others deported during the period included individuals with gang affiliations from Mexico, El Salvador, the Philippines, and Colombia, with convictions spanning attempted murder, kidnapping, robbery, burglary, sexual assault, and weapons violations in California, Connecticut, Maryland, and Delaware.
