Oregon's Division of Financial Regulation recovered nearly $3.9 million for consumers in the first half of 2026 through its consumer advocacy program, with $2.4 million recovered in the second quarter alone.
The division's consumer advocates handled more than 2,000 complaints during the period, with insurance accounting for the majority of cases. Advocates work with regulated institutions and professionals to resolve disputes over insurance coverage and financial services.
Resolved cases included a commercial truck insurance claim for $52,952 where an agent failed to properly list the vehicle on the policy, a $1,017 student loan refund owed under the Public Service Loan Forgiveness program, a $15,306.21 roof damage payment from a hail claim, and an $854 refund for a health insurance enrollment error, the agency reported.
Insurance Commissioner TK Keen said the advocates handle complex cases that require industry expertise. "Our advocates continue to work for Oregonians, protecting them and helping them navigate the complex world of insurance and other industries."
