William Serrano Domenech was arrested on August 18 for the fatal shooting of Raul Aballe in northwest Miami-Dade the previous day, according to the Department of Homeland Security.
According to Miami-Dade Sheriff's Office reports cited by DHS, Serrano Domenech approached a witness and began socializing before Aballe arrived. An argument ensued that escalated, with Serrano Domenech hitting Aballe repeatedly before pulling out a gun and shooting Aballe in the stomach. Aballe died of his injuries at a local hospital. Deputies reported that Serrano Domenech admitted to shooting Aballe and said he acted out of jealousy over Aballe's relationship with the witness.
Serrano Domenech faces charges of second-degree murder and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon. Immigration and Customs Enforcement lodged a detainer with the Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center on August 19.
According to DHS, Serrano Domenech has a criminal history that includes convictions in Florida and Michigan and arrests in New Mexico and Tennessee. DHS said Serrano Domenech claims to have entered the United States through Florida in August 1995. A Department of Justice Immigration Judge issued him a final removal order on February 20, 2002. ICE took him into custody in December 2023, and he was subsequently released.
