U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement arrested 15 individuals with previous convictions for sexual assault of minors, attempted murder, and conspiracy to distribute fentanyl, according to Homeland Security Secretary Markwayne Mullin.
The individuals were from Ecuador, El Salvador, Mexico, Honduras, Cuba, Brazil, Vietnam, Guatemala, and India, ICE said. Among the 15 arrested were Edison Javier Bueno-Tenempaguay of Ecuador, convicted of sexual assault of a minor in Bergen County, New Jersey; Jose Felix Marquez-Hernandez of El Salvador, convicted of sexual battery of a minor in Broward County, Florida; and Nestor Vasquez of El Salvador, convicted of attempted murder and drug possession in Franklin County, Ohio.
Secretary Mullin characterized the arrests as part of broader enforcement efforts. "If you are in our country illegally, we will find you, arrest you, and deport you," Mullin said.
