Texas gained 165,600 nonfarm jobs over the past 12 months, more than any other state, according to July labor market data released by the Texas Workforce Commission and U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics.
Texas's annual job growth rate of 1.2% from July 2025 to July 2026 outpaced the nation's by a full percentage point. Total nonfarm jobs in the state reached 14,468,000, and the Texas labor force totaled 15,915,600.
The industry sectors with the fastest growth rates were Professional and Business Services, Leisure and Hospitality, and Construction. Government services declined over the same period.
The state also reported 15,207,200 people working, including self-employed Texans. Texas gained 17,800 people in its labor force over the 12-month period.
