Governor Gretchen Whitmer announced appointments to 10 boards and commissions, including the Michigan Board of Pharmacy, Michigan Blueberry Commission, Michigan Soybean Committee, and Human Trafficking Health Advisory Board.
Anupa Shantaram, a school improvement coordinator and DEI commissioner in Genesee County, was appointed to the Michigan Board of Pharmacy as a member representing the general public. The board oversees the practice of pharmacy to ensure the safe prescribing, dispensing, and use of drugs.
Alex Jawor, farm manager of Jawor Brothers Blueberries, was appointed to represent district 1 growers on the Michigan Blueberry Commission. The commission supports research, education, and promotion programs for Michigan's blueberry industry.
Marcela Moralez-Morris, a principal consultant in juvenile justice system improvement, was appointed to the Committee on Juvenile Justice. The committee advises the governor on juvenile justice legislation and works to develop prevention services and rehabilitation programs.
Other appointees include Frank Tecumseh, chief executive of FireKeepers Casino Hotel, to the Travel Commission; Matthew Ashbrook and Nathan McCalla to the Soybean Committee; and appointments to the Emergency Response Coordinating Council, Farm Produce Insurance Authority, Wheat Promotion Committee, Human Trafficking Health Advisory Board, and Elevator Safety Board.
