Dutchess County Executive Sue Serino announced that over $335,000 has been awarded to support 14 community-centered projects through the 2026 Municipal Investment Grant Program.
The competitive grant program, open to municipalities, fire departments and nonprofits, provides funding to strengthen vital community infrastructure and enhance safety and accessibility at town halls, fire stations, libraries, parks and community gathering places. Grant recipients are required to provide matching local funds equal to the grant amount.
"When we invest in our libraries, firehouses, town halls and other community spaces, we are investing in the people who rely on them every single day," Serino said.
Funded projects include roofing and surveillance system upgrades at county libraries; emergency generator and fire alarm system installations at firehouses; accessibility improvements including ADA-compliant bathrooms and door openers at town halls; and energy-efficient window and lighting upgrades at municipal facilities.
Grant awards ranged from $20,000 to $25,000, with the City of Poughkeepsie receiving $22,692 for a fire alarm system installation at Station 1 and the Town of Hyde Park receiving $22,398 for security door replacements at police headquarters.
