Maricopa County's Environmental Services Department will raise permit fees following a comprehensive cost recovery analysis.
The Board of Supervisors approved the new fee structure on August 19, 2026. The revised fees take effect immediately for new permit applications, while customers with existing permits will see the increase reflected in their next renewal invoices.
The Environmental Services Department, which inspects and regulates establishments to ensure safe food, water, and waste disposal, had initially set fees to cover the full cost of plan review and permitting services. In 2025, a comprehensive cost recovery analysis found that current fees fall short of this goal.
