The Trump Administration announced $35 million in federal funding for rural Pennsylvania healthcare through the Rural Health Transformation Program (RHTP), according to the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services. The investment will support hospital upgrades including modern screening technology, equipment to expand operating room capacity, and expanded medical transportation options across rural communities in the state.
The program provides up to $1 million to eligible healthcare providers and hospitals per location. Pennsylvania has committed $42 million to support 66 qualified projects, according to the announcement.
The funding was made possible by the Working Families Tax Cuts Act passed by Republicans in Congress. Key investments include promoting sustainable access to care through technology and workforce support; supporting renovations, equipment purchases and essential supplies for hospitals and healthcare providers; and strengthening access to critical services including emergency and non-emergency medical transportation, behavioral and maternal healthcare, and medical technology for essential screenings.
