The Michigan Department of Transportation is investing $409,000 to upgrade the water main connection at the Fenton Rest Area on northbound US-23 in Genesee County, with work starting Sept. 21 and expected to continue through late November 2026, the agency said.
The project will connect the rest area's water system to a public water supply. The facility's building and parking lot will close during the work, though all lanes on northbound US-23 will remain open. Shoulder closures will be in place as needed on US-23 and on Lahring Road.
Based on economic modeling, the investment is expected to directly and indirectly support three jobs, the agency said.
