Boulder County Public Works' Resource Conservation Division has opened grant applications for 2027 Circular Economy Fund projects, with applications due by Sept. 30, 2026.
Eligible projects support waste reduction and resource diversion in the service area, which includes Boulder County, the City and County of Broomfield, and the Town of Erie. Resource diversion means preventing materials from going to a landfill through methods such as recycling, composting, reuse, and environmental design.
The three funding categories are consumer behavior and practices; collection and/or processing of materials; and manufacturing and design. Local governments, nonprofits, school districts, individual schools, private companies, and incorporated or unincorporated communities may apply. Project requests may be between $1,000 and $30,000.
The Circular Economy Fund Program is funded by Boulder County's Sustainability Tax, which voters approved with a 15-year extension in 2019. The program, in place for the past 29 years, has provided over $1.5 million to local groups seeking to advance the circular economy and resource conservation.
