The Oklahoma Conservation Commission launched the second year of the Restoring Natural Ecology in Wetlands (ReNEW) program, which provides technical and financial support for wetland restoration. Wetlands in Oklahoma support improved water quality, flood reduction, aquifer recharge, and recreational opportunities, according to the agency.
The ReNEW program combines technical assistance and financial incentives to encourage landowners to adopt wetland restoration practices. Approved applicants receive 80 percent reimbursement of total project costs for implementing wetland creation, restoration, or enhancement practices.
The application window is now open and remains open through September 30, 2026. Applicants must be a district cooperator with an approved cooperator agreement and are expected to implement and maintain the conservation practices to ensure the project's long-term success. The Wetlands Team will notify approved applicants and their conservation district by November 2, 2026.
