Dutchess County Executive Sue Serino announced $1.2 million in federal funding to be awarded for 14 projects through the County's 2026 Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) and HOME Investment Partnerships Program (HOME). The funding comes from the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development.
The investment will remove barriers to accessibility for seniors and those with special needs, address critical infrastructure needs, and expand affordable housing options throughout Dutchess County. CDBG funds support community development projects that benefit low- and moderate-income people, while HOME Investment program funding creates affordable housing for low-income households.
Municipal projects totaling $611,510 include $189,210 for sidewalk replacement near Beacon Elementary School in the City of Beacon, $125,000 for an accessible bathroom building in the Town of LaGrange, $197,800 for road infrastructure for a Habitat for Humanity subdivision in the Town of Poughkeepsie, and $99,500 for ADA accessibility improvements to Pawling Village Hall.
Public service projects totaling $223,552 will support homeless prevention, senior services including medical transportation, youth development programs, and transitional housing for young adults experiencing homelessness. HOME-funded projects totaling $384,000 will support single-family home construction through Habitat for Humanity in the towns of Amenia and Hudson River Housing.
