CHICAGO —Today, Mayor Brandon Johnson announced his appointment of Connie Anderson to the Chicago Board of Education District 10b.
With more than a decade of leadership in STEM education in partnership with Chicago Public Schools, Anderson’s appointment ensures continuity on the board by filling a vacancy whilepreserving a strong voice for District 10b students, families, and educatorsin shaping the future of public education.
“Connie Anderson is a tireless advocate for our students, educators, and school communities, and I could not be prouder to welcome her to the Chicago Board of Education,” said Mayor Brandon Johnson. “Connie’s experience has given her a deep understanding of our school system and the needs of our communities, and I have the utmost confidence that she will bring thoughtful leadership, collaboration, and a steadfast commitment to the students and families of District 10b.”

The Board consists of 10 elected representatives, chosen by Chicago voters in the November 2024 elections, and 11 mayoral appointees, selected for their expertise and leadership in education, community advocacy, and public service.
Anderson is a respected community leader, education advocate, and entrepreneur who has worked to advance youth development and community-based initiatives across Chicago.
Working with CPS, she led the development of three student robotics teams, including a varsity team that earned a berth at the FIRST World Championships.
Under her leadership, the program was “Honored for Excellence” by the Chicago Board of Education, reflecting her ability to design and implement high-impact initiatives that prepare students for college and careers in engineering and technology.
Anderson demonstrated her ability to navigate complex stakeholder environments while serving for 12 years as an executive member of Friends of Ogden, where she played a key role in the merger of Ogden International School and Jenner Academy of the Arts in 2018.
Her civic and governance experience includes service on the South Chicago Quality-of-Life Plan Education Committee and active participation on the Bessemer Park Advisory Council in the 7th Ward.
Anderson holds a Bachelor of Science in Finance from Northeastern Illinois University.
