CHICAGO– Mayor Brandon Johnson and the Chicago Department of Family and Support Services today celebrated Chicago Youth Works participants who completed the My CHI.
My Future job readiness curriculum, a key component of their summer employment experience designed to strengthen workplace skills, career awareness, and professional development.
During the Chicago Youth Works Summer Celebration & Curriculum Completion Incentive at Bethel New Life, approximately 300 participants from the eight Chicago Youth Works agencies with the highest My CHI.
My Future job readiness curriculum completion rates were recognized for successfully completing the curriculum.

My Future, we are creating pathways that connect young Chicagoans to meaningful employment experiences and opportunities to explore their goals.

My Future job readiness curriculum is designed to equip participants with essential workplace skills, career awareness, and professional development opportunities.
Over the course of six weeks, participants dedicated up to five hours each week to completing job readiness modules, developing skills in areas including communication, professionalism, teamwork, resume building, financial literacy, career exploration, etc. to help prepare them for success in today’s workforce.

My Future job readiness curriculum, participants are building essential skills in communication, professionalism, and career planning that will serve them well beyond this summer.”
As workforce data continues to highlight challenges related to employee retention among younger workers, Chicago Youth Works is committed to strengthening job readiness, professional identity, and long-term career engagement by providing young people with early workplace experiences and the tools needed to navigate future opportunities.
So far this summer, Chicago Youth Works has connected over 28,000 young Chicagoans with employment opportunities across the city.
Through 51 DFSS delegate agencies operating 106 programs, participants have gained meaningful work experience, built professional skills, and explored potential career pathways.

My Future Job Readiness Curriculum Challenge were recognized during today’s celebration, which featured a pizza party sponsored by Home Run Inn, games, karaoke, and raffle prizes in recognition of their hard work and accomplishments.
